This candidate will work directly with a Curriculum and Professional Development team Content Director. Roles and Responsibilities:


The CPD Curriculum Writer will collaborate with the Curriculum and Professional Development team Content Director in order to develop curriculum and curricular resources for the programs of study Elementary Education, Secondary ELA, and Secondary Math. The Curriculum Writer will utilize knowledge of the Urban Teachers instructional framework to guide the development of face-to-face, hybrid, and/or online courses. The Curriculum Writer will also provide support to site-level course instructors and coaches as needed.


Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:



  • Write curriculum in the relevant content area which includes the production of a course syllabi and instructor notes for the course instructor
  • Develop state-specific curriculum alignment documents
  • Identify up-to-date and relevant curricular resources to support the implementation of the curriculum
  • Produce syllabi and curricular materials in the provided templates
  • Develop professional development materials for instructional and coaching faculty
  • Facilitate professional development for instructional and coaching faculty
  • Support fidelity of program implementation across sites




Required Skill Set:


We are seeking highly driven individuals who can thrive in a fast-paced urban setting. Successful candidates will have a deep belief in Urban Teachers’ mission and also have the following skills and qualifications:


  • A master’s degree or higher in early childhood education/teaching in the content area sought
  • At least 5 years of experience as a K-12 classroom teacher in the identified content area
  • Certification and/or experience in curriculum design and/or writing
  • Experience in urban education
  • Experience designing culturally relevant instructional materials
  • Experience with designing curricula for instructional management systems, e.g. hybrid or online  format courses
  • Solid knowledge of standards for instruction, e.g. NGSS, CCSS, TEKS, etc.
  • Solid knowledge of professional standards for teacher preparation
  • Proficiency with, but not limited to, Excel, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Google
  • Experience with online learning platforms, example Blackboard
  • Excellent editing skills
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to effectively work independently and as a part of a team
  • Proven ability to set and meet high goal targets
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills
  • Attention to detail
